Get Using The Last of the Toothpaste

Use a clothes peg , sandwich bag clip or similar to get the last bit out of the toothpaste. I cant think of an easier way to demonstrate than showing it in action - see bottom of page :) :

Get The Last Of The Honey

Often honey starts the crystalise but if we heat it up, we can bring it back to its former glory. Maybe the next time you have used the oven, stick the jar in the over for a few minutes as the oven is cooling down. Or if you have warn water, that would do as well.

Getting The Last Bits of Dressings

Add a small bit of water and swish it around. Add a little vinegar to the bottle of salad drfessing and it will loosen the dressing stuck to the sides of the jar.

Invest In A Jar Scraper

They can help to get the last bits out of a jar.

Nail Varnish Remover

Add a wee bit of nail varnish remover to an old bottle of polish (that has dried and hardened up) and you’ll have a bit more use from that old nail varnish that was facing a trip to the (recycle) bin.

Getting The Last Bits Of Foundation/Mascara

Put the sealed container in warm water for a few seconds and this slight heat will loosen out the product inside.

Cut Off The End Of The Bottle

This applies to so many things we use. We frequently throw out a container that has still got some product in it. Cut off the end of the bottle/tube/container and take out the product left inside. If there is more product than is needed for one use, carefully place the cut-off top back on and re-seal. There might also be the option to clingfilm seal the tube/container/bottle.

Using A Lip Brush To Get The Last Of The Lipstick

Use a brush to get at the lipstick that last bit of lipstick that is below the rim of the lipstick container.

Old Toothbrushes Are Excellent Mini Scrubbing Brushes

Great for cleaning in tight spaces e.g. taps, between tiles

Make Use of the Oven and Cooker After Use

They are cooling down but if you put water in a pan and let it sit on the cooling hob, the water will heat up for the washing up. Also, if the oven has been used, put water in a dish in the oven and you’ll get some hot water for the washing up.

Wash And Reuse Plastic And Foil Containers

An excellent no-cost alternative to Tupperware.

Use Half A Dishwasher Tablet

Try using half a dishwasher tablet instead of a whole one. This might be sufficient for an everyday wash.

Reuse Cereal Bags

They can be used to separate food in the freezer. Just as good as freezer bags.

Use The Vinegar In Pickle Jars

This is perfectly good vinegar and could be used with your chips etc.

Buy Own Brand And Put It In Food Containers

If the little ones are fussy about their branded cereals and you think this is only a psychology thing, it might be worth buying own brand and putting it into cereal containers like below:

DIY Firelighters

Take the fluff from your tumble dryer and put it inside an old toilet roll and voila, you have a no-cost fire lighter. Au Revoir Sunny Jim.

Even Beat Up Old Clothes Have A Use

They’re great to use as a cleaning cloth, duster or polish cloth.

Recycle Old Candles

Put the leftover candle wax on top of an oil burner and you will be able to create a new candle. Melt down the leftover candle wax in a glass bowl over warm water and you have what you need for your new candle. Use an old teacup as a mould. Or a fairy cake tray.
