Income, Expenditure and Budgeting
Step 1
The first point is to identify what your Income is and what your Expenditure. Take a read through these Notes as they will help you. There are two important things to think about:
You need to make sure that you are getting all the Income/Benefits that you are entitled to. It is worthwhile to get a Benefits Check to confirm this. There are a number of organisations such as the Irish National Organisation for the Unemployed (INOU) and Citizens Information who will be able to do this for you.
You need to make sure that you know exactly what your spending is. The easiest way to do this is to keep a spending diary. MABS have an excellent Spending Diary and it can be downloaded here.
Examples of Income and Expenditure can be found by clicking on this link.
Step 2
Enter your income and expenditure into the spreadsheet and you will get a good picture of how your income compares to your expenditure. Click here to download the spreadsheet. Have a good look at your spending. How much of it is Essential and Non-Essential?
I have a Powerpoint on Income and Expenditure that can be downloaded here.
I have a Powerpoint on Budgeting that can be downloaded here.
