Back To Work Supports - Wage Subsidy Scheme

The Wage Subsidy Scheme gives financial support to employers who employ people with disabilities. Its administered by the DSP and subsidises the wages of eligible employees. The rate of payment is E6.30/hour to a maximum of E12,776/year. To be eligible, the employee must have a condition that impacts their workplace productivity levels.

What Are The Eligibility Criteria For The Employer?

  • The scheme is open to Private Sector employers

  • The hours of work must be 21 hours or more

  • The subsidy is for 39 hours maximum

  • The contract offered must be for a minimum of 6months

What Are The Eligibility Criteria For The Employee?

  • They need to be 18 years or over

  • They must be medically certified (Productivity rate must be between 50% - 80%)

  • If they are in receipt of Disability Allowance, Blind Pension, Disablement Pension, Illness Benefit, Invalidity Pension or Partial Capacity Supplement there does not need to be a medical certification as they were required to get these payments

  • If you are on Illness Benefit, Invalidity Pension or Partial Capacity Supplement, you must stop these payments to get the Wage Subsidy Scheme
