What Is This Scheme?

The Part-Time Job Incentive (PTJI) Scheme allows certain people getting Jobseeker's Allowance (JA) to take up part-time work and get a special weekly allowance instead of their jobseeker's payment. It is intended to be a stepping stone to full-time work.

Who Is Eligible?

• You need to be in receipt of JA/JB for fifteen months or more

• You cannot be in receipt of another allowance i.e. education

• The JA/JB payment must be higher than part time allowance

What Are The Main Features?

• You must be willing to stay on the scheme for minimum of 2 months

• You must be in insurable employment

• The employment must not be more than 24 hours per week

• You must continue to seek full time employment

• This is initially for one year

• In 2023, it pays E139.40 for a single person and E227.30 for a couple – it doesn’t matter what the income is from the job
