What Is This Scheme?
The Part-Time Job Incentive (PTJI) Scheme allows certain people getting Jobseeker's Allowance (JA) to take up part-time work and get a special weekly allowance instead of their jobseeker's payment. It is intended to be a stepping stone to full-time work.
Who Is Eligible?
You need to be in receipt of JA/JB for fifteen months or more
You cannot be in receipt of another allowance i.e. education
The JA/JB payment must be higher than part time allowance
What Are The Main Features?
You must be willing to stay on the scheme for minimum of 2 months
You must be in insurable employment
The employment must not be more than 24 hours per week
You must continue to seek full time employment
This is initially for one year
In 2023, it pays E139.40 for a single person and E227.30 for a couple – it doesn’t matter what the income is from the job
